Cosplayer since 2007; BL fan for almost as long; still having fun. Wanted to run a meetup so that it'd be easier to find each other for photos. Big fan of merch trades.

    FAQ

This information is current as of April 9, 2024. The location, date, &/or time of this meetup may be subject to change if required by Anime Boston staff.

    .

Q: Where is the meetup being held? When am I supposed to be there? How long will it be?

    .

A: For Anime Boston 2025, we're aiming to hold the meetup on Saturday, May 24 at nighttime, likely sometime around 9p, and will run for approximately one hour. More information will be made available once the list of meetup locations have been updated and signups for cosplay gatherings have been opened.

Q: What are the guidelines for this meetup?

    .

A: Most of these are common sense, but please keep these guidelines in mind in order to ensure that everyone can have a fun time:

    • N+C games are intended for mature audiences. Due to the content of these games, we are requesting that everyone who wishes to attend this meetup is at least 18 years old at the time of Anime Boston 2025. Both of the hosts are adults in their early 30s and we are intending to hold this meetup during the "late night" portion of the convention. Thank you for understanding!

    • Always ask for permission before touching another attendee or their belongings, including service animals and mobility devices. Want to put your arm on someone’s shoulder or do a “shippy pose” for a photo? Want to help someone fix their wig? Want to hold someone’s bag for them while they’re being photographed? Ask first! Attendees are always allowed to say “no” - no further explanation needed. If you ask someone and they say “no,” always respect their decision. If an attendee persists and crosses a boundary, please bring it to the attention of one of the hosts or an Anime Boston staff member as soon as possible.

    • Every character is somebody's favorite and every ship is somebody's OTP - even if it's not your cup of tea. Please refrain from character or ship bashing, period. In addition, please remember that cosplayers are not the characters themselves - do not direct negativity towards someone just because they are cosplaying a character that you personally do not like.

    • Do not put down other cosplayers, give unsolicited advice/criticisms, or otherwise act maliciously towards other attendees. As a rule of thumb: if you would be upset if someone said something similar to you, please don't say it to someone else. If you have concerns about how an attendee is behaving, please bring it to the attention of one of the hosts or an Anime Boston staff member as soon as possible.

    • Please be aware that spoilers for all games may be discussed! Conversely, please be respectful if someone asks you to not discuss spoilers in front of them.

    • As with all other areas of the convention, please abide by all Anime Boston rules and comply with all instructions given by Anime Boston staff. All clothing and props must comply with convention and cosplay policies.

Q: Are duplicate characters okay? Do I need to "claim" a character in order to cosplay them?

    .

A: Anyone is able to cosplay any character they wish — no claiming necessary! Hell, we could have 20 Aobas show up and still have a fun time!

Q: Can folks attend even if they aren't cosplaying a N+C character?

    .

A: Of course - it's exciting to meet anyone who enjoys these games, so the more the merrier! However, folks not in N+C cosplay will not be able to be a part of the cosplay photoshoot. [The only exception to this rule is if a disabled cosplayer requires assistance from a companion or service animal.]

Q: Does Super Sonico count as a N+C character?

    .

A: She's technically the mascot for Nitroplus, not N+C. [Naitou-kun is the official mascot for N+C!] However, Super Sonico cosplayers are still welcome to attend if they wish!

Q: I don't have anyone to take photos for me - can I find the photos somewhere afterwards?

    .

A: Yes - there will be a Google Drive folder linked on this Carrd after Anime Boston has concluded. We'll also have a notebook at the meetup for folks to write down their social media handles to make it easier to tag folks!

    Q: I use a mobility device/have a service animal/require special accommodations - will I be able to attend/participate?

    .

A: Yes! Please check out the accessibility page of this Carrd for more information.

Q: I have a N+C-themed ita bag - can I bring it with me? Can I trade merch with someone?

    .

A: Yes — we'd definitely love to see them! We will also have a small assortment of official merch to trade/give away to folks working on their collections. For those interested, please check Ollie's Carrd and direct any merch-related inquiries to him, especially if you have a specific character/game in mind.

Q: I have a question that isn't covered here - how should I ask someone?

    .

A: Feel free to contact either of the hosts! You're also welcome to leave a comment on our meetup post in the Anime Boston Forum [TBA].

    Accessibility

This information is current as of April 9, 2024. The location, date, &/or time of this meetup may be subject to change if required by Anime Boston staff.

    .

    • Please note the hosts are not a part of Anime Boston's staff — we are both regular attendees just like you. Ollie is disabled, uses a cane, and will have an accessibility sticker at the convention.

    • Both hosts will be masked throughout the entirety of the meetup. Extra masks will be available for those who would like one. Masking helps allow attendees who are chronically ill, immunocompromised, or are at a higher risk of serious illness to prioritize their health while still being able to engage in communal fandom spaces.

    • If you require any specific accommodations for the meetup location or if you have an accessibility question that is specific to the meetup, please contact one of the hosts in advance.

    • More information about accessibility will be made available once the list of meetup locations has been updated for 2025. Ideally, we are aiming to select a location on the first floor of the Hynes Convention Center that will have seating available for those who need it. In the event that no such space is available, our selection will prioritize a location with a close proximity to an elevator and has enough space for wheelchairs to maneuver in.

    • If you are prone to overheating, we highly suggest investing in a portable handheld fan and a collapsible/travel water bottle. The convention center is not always as cool as it should be, and the end of May can get quite hot.

    • In both 2023 and 2024, the only working water fountain in the convention center was located on the second floor next to the single elevator closest to Hynes 206. Some of the panel rooms also have water coolers with cups available.

    • If you have questions or concerns about accessibility at Anime Boston as a whole, please send an email to their Accessibility Specialist via Anime Boston's contact page in advance.

    • General information about Anime Boston's accessibility policies can be found here.

    • Hours and locations for the Quiet Room and Accessibility Services for both of the main buildings can be found here.
